Now Seeking Video Production Interns for Spring 2022

American Octopus Productions is an award-winning independent media production team in the New Jersey/NYC area. Led by filmmaker Emmanuel Vozos, we are committed to pursuing creative storytelling projects that entertain and inform audiences, empower our clients and support our community. Recent projects include a video art installation for Whole Foods Market in Manhattan, and the Emmy-nominated Liberty Hall 360, a historical virtual reality film. 

For Spring 2022, the Video Production Intern will assist on the production, editing and distribution of promotional videos for two area non-profits. The intern will work directly with producers, directors, camera operators, voiceover artists and interview subjects. The ideal candidate is a motivated student that is interested in independent, small team productions.

Responsibilities

  • Regular training/meeting sessions (video meetings) and independent work time.

  • Admin: Coordinate schedule for upcoming projects, prepare written communications. Research visual style and new trends for project proposals.

  • Editing: Independently edit and deliver short clips for social media and other outlets.

  • Marketing: Coordinate social media and blog posts.

  • Maintain internship meeting schedule and deliver assignments by deadline.

  • Optional: Assist on in-person camera shoots.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Software Experience (Highly Recommended)

  • Final Cut Pro and Compressor

  • Adobe Creative Suite

  • Google Suite (Gmail, Drive, Docs, Forms)

  • Apple Suite (Pages, Keynote) or Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

Qualifications

  • Education: Applicants must be pursuing a degree and complete all requirements from their university’s internship office, including age, work eligibility status, etc.

  • Experience in video editing and production is recommended but not required.

  • Responsiveness: Timely responses to Email/Text are expected, especially re: deadlines.

  • Professional and Interpersonal Skills Desired: Strong writing and oral communication skills, high standards regarding accuracy, attention to detail, and confidentiality. Excellent problem-solving skills and outstanding judgment. Strong work ethic, and a positive attitude. Ability to work effectively with colleagues and adjust to changing priorities.

Details

Time: One Semester. 

Approx. 150 hrs, or 10h/wk for 15 weeks. (Est. Feb 1 to May 17, 2022)

Academic Credit: Yes, pending coordination with your school’s internship office.

Compensation: Yes. TBD.
